Richmond TV Station NBC12 has obtained a photo of the truck owned by Stephen Elias Webb who admits to the hit-and-run death of bicyclist Lanie Kruszewksi on July 29  while she was  riding her bicycle  home from work.  Webb’s attorneys led detectives to the vehicle. Webb told prosecutors that he thought he had hit a deer. Defense attorneys have requested a change of venue for the trial which is scheduled for December.

The Youth of Richmond Cycling Corps Need Your Vote

We’re huge fans of Richmond Cycling Corps, a cycling-oriented civic development and youth outreach organization.

“Youth set a year-end-goal for distance ridden in one day. We ride with our youth several times a week, and during weekends–encouraging them, supporting them–to ensure that they accomplish the goals that they set.”

RCC is going for a Richmond Unite grant, and they need 1,000 votes by Sept. 15. Please help them win by casting your vote, and you can vote again, once per day, ’til the 15th.

These comments usually include suggestions that we license and register cyclists and bicycles, and charge taxes or user fees of some kind. This morning, I read one in the Richmond Times Dispatch, my local paper. In recent weeks, the RTD editorial page has included some very thoughtful pieces from the paper’s editor in chief, Tom Silvestri, and others. Perhaps in response, this morning’s paper included a Letter to the Editor from a Mr. James. I seized upon the opportunity to enlighten this reader, and perhaps a few others.
