Attention bicycle fashionistas and active commuters!
To kick off Bike Month in the New River Valley, SGA Transportation will host Blacksburg Cycle Chic – Fashion Show and Commuter Celebration on May 1st. This is an event not to be missed!
The evening begins with Keynote Speaker Elly Blue, author of Grist’s famous Bikenomics series, then leading into an open networking/bike brainstorm session with local hors d’oeuvres, followed by short presentations (15-20 min Ted Talk style) that will reveal the progress Blacksurg and Virginia Tech has made towards becoming a bicycle-friendly community and university. The night concludes with a fashion show of student and community cyclists. Over 50 ‘models’ will strut their heels and wheels on the runway, or in this case cycle path!
The event will showcase local groups striving towards regional transportation sustainability and active lifestyles while revealing bicycle heroines and heroes in our Hokie community.
Want to be part of our Bike Fashion Show?! Apply before Thursday, April 26 now!
For more information, visit Blacksburg Cycle Chic.
Or just show up May 1, 5-9 PM, at the VT Graduate Life Center.
Update from Lyndsay McKeever: “We want YOU in our Bicycle Fashion Show (more like a bike rider celebration!). We’d love to showcase bike couples on tandems, children on their trikes, VT professors in business suits, Rogues Racing athletes in their kits and families of Huckleberry Trail riders! This event is about CHARACTERS in our unique Blacksburg Bike Community. Make sure you join the fun, either as a ‘model’ or attendee for the incredible line-up of speakers and bike brainstorm!”
